What is
Net-Challenge?
Net-Challenge is an European research project (Ref. FP7-CP-FP 229287-2) in the area of collaborative business networks, supported by the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Community (EC) for research and technological development, under the theme NMP (Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new production technologies).
The project started in June 2009 and its duration is 30 months.
Net-Challenge Objectives
The Net-Challenge project main goal is to support the creation and management of non-hierarchical business networks where SMEs can join competencies and resources to succeed on the global market in the design and manufacturing of complex products.
Specific objectives include the design and development of an integrated framework, composed of a methodology, reference business processes and IT tools, to support SMEs create and manage such networks.
How can Net-Challenge help SMEs?
To successfully compete on the global market, European SMEs have to adopt new business models and establish dynamic and non-hierarchical networks, assuring quick response, fast time to market, differentiated offerings and competitive prices.
In this context Net-Challenge provides methods, processes and IT tools that:
- Help SMEs manage and develop business communities that provide a suitable environment for collaboration, by facilitating communication, information sharing and partner search
- Help SMEs form and manage collaboration projects (Virtual Organisations) for one-of-a-kind and mass customisation of complex products.
The project focus in market segments specially important for SMEs sustainability, namely in high-variety and low-volume businesses, related with complex products design and manufacturing.
