INESC Porto

INESC Porto is a private non-profit research institution working in the interface between the academic world and the industrial and service companies as well as the public administration. Main activities are scientific research and technological development, technology transfer, consulting and advanced training programs in the following areas: Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, Business Networking, Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Electronics.

The Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit of INESC Porto is composed of about 40 researchers (14 PhD) and activity areas related with Operations Management and Enterprise Information Systems, applied to industrial companies and enterprise cooperation networks. The main areas are: Enterprise Cooperation Networks; Intelligent Logistic Systems; Advanced Planning Systems; Cutting and packing; Interoperability.

Promoted applied research projects, in partnership with software houses, aiming at the development of innovative products in: production planning, scheduling and control, advanced automation  and logistics, quality and maintenance management, decision support, knowledge management, and integration infrastructures. INESC Porto is Associated Laboratory in the filed of Enterprise Cooperation Networks.
